Who It's For

The first machine on this list that's a real floor jointer, and it still runs on an ordinary 120V circuit. That combination is the whole appeal. If you've outgrown a benchtop but can't run 240V to the shop, start here.

What Owners Praise

  • It runs on a standard 120V shop circuit, so there's no electrical work to budget for
  • The spiral head is markedly quieter than a straight-knife jointer
  • The mobile base is built in, which matters in a one-car garage
  • Setup is simple because there are no knives to set

What Owners Report as Limitations

  • A 46-inch bed is on the short side for a floor machine, and long boards show it
  • Six inches of width still won't let you face a wide board
  • Carbide inserts cost more to replace than HSS knives when the time comes

Upgrades & Compatibility

Replacement inserts are Grizzly H7319, sold ten to a pack. The mobile base is already fitted and the cutterhead is already an insert head, so there's very little left to add. The next step up is width, not features.

Alternatives to Consider

  • The G0814 is Grizzly's 6-inch floor jointer with a slightly longer 48-inch bed and cabinet stand, but with straight knives rather than the G0452Z's spiral cutterhead.

    Compare with Grizzly G0814
  • The JET JJ-6CSDX is a 6-inch closed-stand floor jointer with straight knives, a comparable full-size option that trades the spiral head for JET's fit and finish.

    Compare with Jet Jj 6csdx
  • The G0959 is a 12-inch combo planer/jointer, a different approach that adds thickness planing and more width if you can use a two-in-one machine.
